Glendal Pre-School... is managed and maintained by a Parent-Run Committee, even though we have joined the “bestchance” Kindergarten Cluster Group. Parents on the Committee are responsible for the management of day-to-day issues affecting the pre-school.
“bestchance” has taken over the role of Licensee and Employer – managing all staff employment, administering wages and preservation of entitlements, organising staff professional development and relief staff, ensuring that government regulations (including Licensee requirements) are met, and pre-school policies are developed/evaluated.
The roles of the Committee Members are as follows...
- President Chairs monthly committee meetings, co-ordinates the duties of and with other committee members. Requires knowledge of the Rules of Association and the way the pre-school operates!
- Vice President Deputises for the president. Assist staff to organise relief teacher using availability list provided by bestchance. Liaise with bestchance to ensure policies are up to date and ensure that staff and committee are aware of any changes.
- Secretary The Secretary deals with incoming and outgoing correspondence (including electronic mail). Records minutes of all meetings and distributes them to all committee members one week after the meetings. They also prepare the agenda for the upcoming meeting.
- Treasurer Maintain all financial records. Pays accounts, prepares annual financial reports, yearly budgets, quarterly BAS and monthly reports on financial position to the committee.
- Purchasing Officer Responsible for obtaining quotes and purchasing of equipment/materials as requested by staff and the Committee.
- Enrolment Officer Records enrolments, issues enrolment information to prospective parents, and liaises with the Central Enrolment Officer at the Monash Council.
- Fees OfficerSends fees notices, collects fees and forwards receipts. Collects any other monies from cash tin.
- Maintenance Officer(s) Handles all minor repairs and maintenance as required. Liaises with staff regarding working bees.
- Fundraising MemberDevelops a fundraising plan for the Pre-school and together with General Committee raises funds for equipment for the Pre-school
- Newsletter Editor Collects information and types up the newsletter 6 times a year.
- General Committee Members Carry out general duties as requested, such as fund raising, organizing social events, publicity, Education Week, and assists with the newsletter.
